     Lucinda (?) was also known as Widow Piper and Janet (?)2 She emigrated with her son from Ireland to the American colonies before 1735. She purchased what became known as Widow Piper's Tavern before 1736. It became the site of the First Court of General Sessions of the Peace in Cumberland County. Four terms of the court were held there until the court was moved to Carlisle, the newly selected county seat.3

Ashen is a small village 8 miles north-of-west of the historic town of Sudbury and Great Cornard, south of the River Stour, the Essex/Suffolk border.2
