Randolph Spotswood Knipp was born on 18 February 1933 in Hampton Roads, Virginia, USA.1 He married Ina Jean McCabe, daughter of James Lewell McCabe and Lennie (?), on 8 June 1960.2 Randolph Spotswood Knipp died on 28 November 2023 at home at age 90.3
He graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia, USA.3 He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served two years as a tank commander at Fort Knox, Kentucky, USA.3 He and Ina Jean McCabe had high security clearances and worked for the missile defense program at Hughes Aircraft; Randolph as an engineer and Jean as a secretary.3 Randolph Spotswood Knipp and Ina Jean McCabe lived in 1963 in Orange, Texas, USA, after two years in Littleton, Colorado.3 He attained his Master’s degree in mathematics from Lamar University, and worked as an engineer/consultant for Dupont SRW until his retirement.
After Jean passed away after 55 years of marriage, he reached out to long forgotten friends to fill the hours of his newfound loneliness. It was then he connected to his high school girlfriend, Julie (Gremmels) Ford, who had also just lost her husband. The two were a high school “item” in Lynchburg, Virginia from 1948-1952, after which they both graduated and went on to pursue their passions and careers. The romance with Julie was rekindled almost immediately, over 65 years since they’d last seen each other, and he moved to be with her in West Virginia. He fell in love with not only Julie, but also the town, the weather, and the social options.3
Randolph Spotswood Knipp lived in 2022 in Lewisburg, West Virginia, USA.

Caroline Christiana Ropke1
F, b. 1853, d. 1902
Father | (?) Ropke |
Mother | (?) (?)2 |
Caroline Christiana Ropke was born in 1853 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, USA.3 She married Henry Siefke, son of Henry Siefke and Anna Heins, on 14 May 1873.4 Caroline Christiana Ropke died in 1902. She was buried at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York, USA.3
Caroline married Henry Siefke (2244) the nephew of Frederick (2075) and a cousin of Herman (133).
Caroline Siefke was accused of attempting to poison her mother Mrs. Pope and her brother John P. Ropke. (Things are a bit confusing because both Caroline and her mother were married multiple times.) On 31 August 1878, she prepared a “Pot Cheese” and had a young man John Blankmeyer, 13, deliver it to her mother’s house, claiming it was prepared by Mrs. Cook, a maid of Mrs. Ropke, who often sent gifts delivered by her son. Mrs. Siefke told John to tell her mother that Mrs. Cook’s son was ill and could not deliver it himself like usual. She promised him 10 cents to deliver the package and another 15 cents after it was done. She was gone when he returned. He later identified her in court.2
Caroline was no stranger to the court system. She was not on good terms with her mother because she had an ongoing suit against her, filed by her husband Henry, to get more out of an inheritance. It’s not clear how that suit came out.
Her mother, too, was the finagling kind. She married Mr. Pope, then she, the new Mrs. Pope, had him sign over the property he owned at marriage so they could take out a loan on it, then promptly divorced him leaving him destitute.5 Caroline sued her husband's cousin Herman for slander. There is no indication how this was settled.6 11 December 1896 Caroline allegedly surprised a burglar in the hallway of her home who, by her son’s description, “…squirted some kind of liquid into her face with a bulb, which he held in his hand. Then he tore her diamond earrings from her ears, and a gold breast pin from the neck of her dress. My mother fell screaming to the floor. The man ran downstairs and dashed out the front door.” Although Caroline was sure it was carbolic acid, when reporters arrived she refused to see them because “she was too much prostrated.” Henry, by then having left the liquor business and become a real estate agent, was tending to a sick horse in the basement and was unaware of the incident. Caroline apparently recovered fully and there was no mention whether an insurance policy was involved.7
After her husband Henry, then an alderman, died, Caroline sued her son Henry to get more out of the estate than Henry the elder had included in his will. The will cut off her future income from the estate significantly should she remarry, and the court removed that clause, giving her one-third of the estate with the rest going to her son and his descendants.8
