     Charles Daniel Trexler was born on 1 November 1883 in Bernville, Pennsylvania, USA.1 He married Christine Henrietta Siefke, daughter of Herman Siefke and Wilhelmina Dorothea von Dohlen, on 16 June 1909 at 148 74th Street in Brooklyn, New York, USA.2 Charles Daniel Trexler died on 28 July 1970 at Physician's Hospital in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York, USA, at age 86. He was buried at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York, USA, Lot 23674 Section L.3
     He attended Muhlenberg College and the Lutheran Theological Seminary.1 From 1906 to 1929, he was the founder and pastor of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shephard., Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York, USA.1 During his pastorate he was president of the Eastern Conference of New York and New England Synod. From 1928 to 1932, he was on the executive board of the United Lutheran Church in America.
He served as chairman of the Church's committee until he entered World War I as an Army Chaplain in 1918. During the war, he served as Chaplain of the 320th Field Artillery, 82d Division and took part in the Saint Mihiel, Toul and Meuse-Argonne campaigns. He was promoted to Captain and became Chaplain of the Eight and Seventh Army Corps in the Army of Occupation.1 He was named pastor of St. James Lutheran Church, Madison Avenue and 73rd Street in 1929.1 He served three terms as president of the Greater New York Federation of Churches.1 He became pastor of Grace Church in Forest Hills.1 He was chaplain of the 101st Cavalry of the New York National Guard and went into service with it during World War II. In 1942, he was the senior chaplain with the rank of Colonel at Walter Reed. He then served as the post chaplain at Lawson General Hospital in Atlanta in 1943 and was later assigned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina.1 From 1949 to 1952, he was the pastor for students at Muhlenberg College, Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA.1 He was the Chaplain for the Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York.1 From 1952 until his retirement in 1956, he served St. Paul's Church in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, USA.1 He was appointed a Brigadier General in the New York National Guard by Governor W. Averill Harriman.1
